Honesty Promotes Purity

Honest Hearts Produce Honest Actions

1 Peter 3:10-12

“He who would love life
And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil,
And his lips from speaking deceit.
 Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Paul’s wonderfully anointed words to Titus are needed for today’s Believing Body of Disciples…Titus 2:14…(Christ)…gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

Years ago I held a bottle of water in my hand in front of a youth group and asked a question. The question was, “would you drink this is if the ingredients read; ’99% pure water 1% sewer water’?” Not one young person said it would be ok to drink it.

Purity among Believers is a fading quality, as far as our lives look in presentation.  The kind of purity that I am encouraging here today is one of Relationship with the Father, Jehovah God our Creator. No one can stand before the world in which we live with pure undefiled motive without constant Heavenly Relationship.

Daniel Prayed morning, noon and evening.  David declared, “Early will I seek you oh my Lord and take not Your Spirit from me”. Moses needed mountain top experiences in God’s Holy presence. Jesus taught His Disciples prayer without a start or stop watch. Never ending prayer is an “Honest” look at who we are in the midst of a crooked and perverse world.

1 Chron. 22:19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God.

Getting to that true mark of relationship and entrenching oneself with a heart to seek will require “Honesty”. The “Honesty” that is promoted here today is that of desiring God in view of self.

Isa. 6:5 “Woe is me, for I am undone!”

Numbers 20:6 “Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the tent of meeting, and fell on their faces. And the glory of the LORD appeared to them.”

Even when the Apostle John saw the Messenger of the Lord (Rev. 1:17) the “Honesty” of who he was in presence of Holiness put him on his face.

Is purity being lost for today’s Church simply because there is little if no “Honesty” about who we are as a people in need of God?

It is said that the first person we lie to is ourselves. The next lie we invoke is to those nearest to us. The Truth that will set us free in our day is we are hopeless and lost without Jesus. “Oh, I Need Him…” I know Heb. 4:16, “Boldly come…” Heb. 10:35 “don’t throw away your confidence…” Boldly come is to find mercy and grace.  Not throwing away confidence is encouraged because of struggles and troubles.

Honesty comes thru humility. Humility cries, “Purify my heart oh God and renew a right spirit within me”. Ps. 51:10 Humility is fuel to Honesty! 1 Peter 5:6, James 4:10

Listen to Jesus…John 6:37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

My need drives me to Him, His Love for me Holds me and keeps me near Him.

It is right to need God and wrong not to acknowledge it!!!!!!!
