Prayer That Prevents Change
January 28, 2018

Open with prayer centered on Heb. 12:12-15 and the Lord’s Prayer…

We are charged in Scripture to pray about everything both temporary and eternal.

“He who does not put God by prayer in his struggling toil for daily
bread will never put him in his struggle for heaven.” E. M. Bounds

The focus today is primarily to learn prayer as an attitude. Phil. 2:5 Have this same attitude in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus [look to Him as your example in selfless humility] …selfishness conveys unhappiness…check your unhappiness and see if selfishness is its source…  Once we've been changed to know God's forgiveness and we need to pray for our understanding of these truths and that understanding to never change. God loves and Forgives...

Prayer That Prevents Change

  • Pray to prevent making wrong choices. Nothing changes a person away from God’s provision like wrong choices…

God will permit wrong choices when people are determined to go wrong ways. Hear Joshua…

Joshua 24:14-15
Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

  • Pray knowing God does not change.

God has promised and He doesn’t change. People however are in constant change if not for good then for bad. It is strange that a person resists change for the good but is ok with change to the corrupt.

JAMES 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].

Prayer keeps a Believer in a God blessed position!!!

  • There is prayer that keeps us from distraction.

God isn’t distracted, but I can get that way.  We must enter into prayer that keeps a clear focus upon God and His purposes.

Jesus prayed in order to keep distraction from Him.  Luke 22, Matt. 26… He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." Jesus prayer came during the time of His deepest anguish. He knew that this pressure might move Him from the plan God had for His Sacrifice and prayer kept Him in tune with God’s will.

According to Rom. 8:31 in response to the things of life Paul says, God is for you…

Eph. 4:27 we are challenge to keep ourselves from giving an opportunity for the enemy…

Prayer allows all the plans of God to come to me and through me for HOPE and A FUTURE!!!!!!!!!  I do not want that to CHANGE!!!!
