The Cultural Wall
May 6, 2018

Zech. 2:4-5

…city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’

Dismantling Walls will require two actions…

  • Revealing
  • Repenting

A Cultural Wall

A Church’s way of protecting itself from society.

1 Cor. 1:10, 11:18 …”that there be
no divisions among you”

It is my view that “Cultural Walls” usually develop out of pains and strife among those within the protective structures of men’s personal views. Personal views based on removing any interruption of activity selfishly devised purposes.

A Critic is someone who knows the way but can’t drive the car. –Kenneth Tynan

When criticism is considered a strength Satan will provide building material.

Today we venture into a deeper look at getting free from walls that divide and hinder. Matt. 10:7-9 …proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Walls come in many forms. Their uses and structures are decided by those who live within their protective purposes.

Isaiah 55:8,9  (NLT)  “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond

anything you could imagine.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

As noble as desires of the heart are Isaiah’s description of God’s ways still apply today.  A cultural wall begins as quickly as a church, or person, decides their personal wishes become priority for others. When leaders and organizers are in charge so are their building strategies.

God gives structure for “His Higher Ways”. Matthew 10:39, Matthew 16:25, Mark 8:35, Luke 9:24, John 12:25

He who wants to keep his life will have it taken away from him. He who loses his life because of Me will have it given back to him.

It is a vulnerable way of life to trust the Father in all things. Matt 10:22, John 15:18, Mark 13:13 and more in The Book of Acts lend reality to being all Jesus taught…this world will hate you because of me. No protective wall will change Christ’s instruction.

There are many commonsense truths of reasonable living that are applied daily. Lock your car when you go into the store. Look both ways when crossing a street. Don’t give a stranger your banking information. Don’t give a family member your banking information. Let us not apply those ways to The Gospel Message. Sew the Message everywhere!

“If we don’t risk being hurt, we cannot give unconditional love. Unconditional love gives others the right to hurt us.” ― John BevereBait Of Satan: Living Free from the Deadly Trap of Offense

Unconditional Love may be the most powerful work God does in us!!!

2 Tim. 3:2 reminds us the farther we venture into the “last days” the more people become “lovers of themselves”. People want what they want! People want to keep what they get! People want to protect what they have! Walls define what people’s desires have gained for themselves. Isn’t it strange the “free Gift of Life” and all that goes with it is from God; yet this “free Gift of Life” is withheld and hidden from those who need it the most.

A Church’s way of protecting itself

from society is wall building.

This protecting way keeps The Church

from reaching and helping.

Could it be a devilish plan to take

the Gospel away from the society

it was designed to reach?

Can we agree God’s protection and direction are far superior to ours? Many times it looks as if God doesn’t understand, but we are the ones lacking information. Paul is imprisoned. That prison promotes letters to the churches. Joseph is enslaved to bring a leader to save his people. Baby Moses is placed into a crocodile infested river to save his life. He is saved by the family trying to kill him. Jesus is tortured and crucified. This mistreatment by men provides healing and eternal life. His ways, hmmm, not sure I mentally grasp what He’s doing now. I’d rather follow Him than foolishly plan my own way. To plan my own way is to plan my destruction.
