In His Presence
Never Abandoned

Lev. 21:10-12

 He who is the high priest among his brethren, on whose head
the anointing oil was poured and who is consecrated to wear the garments,
shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes; nor shall he go near any dead body,
nor defile himself for his father or his mother; nor shall he go out of the sanctuary,
nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the
anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the

The world around us regularly finds itself in one of these three conditions;

Disillusioned – unsatisfied, unfulfilled

Discouraged – hopeless, miserable

Disbelieving – unimpressed, skeptical

When Believers (Isa. 40:31) spend time with God wrapping our weakness around His strength a difference is made. Believers will not follow the world in an unfulfilled or miserable condition. Believers will not become unimpressed. With God in us we will not become unimpressive.

A quick reminder is needed, Eph. 6, armor of God…the fight is not with people…

There are two things your spiritual enemy applauds;

  • Denying their existence
  • Overemphasizing their existence

From King David to Job men and women of old would tear their garments and mourn as a sign of pain and loss.  It was a signal to those around of grief. It could also be an indication of repentance or a cry of humbling oneself. More often it indicated that God was not in something. It meant I’m in despair, something has overwhelmed me or I have no answers. It could also mean that the people had left God’s will and/or protection. In any case when garments were tore the need was turn to God and obey.

The priest however was charged to never tear his clothes. He was the one who spent time with God in the Holy Place. If he tore his clothes that meant he did not know God. It meant he was unimpressed by his time with God. If he tore his clothes then God was no longer God. The Priest was to represent God to those who needed God.

Believers today are God’s Joy and Hope to a lost world as Light and Salt!!!

In His Presence
Never Abandoned

Now you’ve got my feet on the life path,
    all radiant from the shining of your face.
Ever since you took my hand,
    I’m on the right way. Ps. 16:11 MSG

(New Life Version) You will show me the way of life. Being with You is to be full of joy.
In Your right hand there is happiness forever.

Heb. 13:5-6 MSG Don’t be obsessed with getting more material things.
Be relaxed with what you have. Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down,
never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote,

God is there, ready to help;
I’m fearless no matter what.
Who or what can get to me?

KJV He will never leave you or forsake you…

Paul and Barnabas give us the only time Believers should tear their clothes is when God uses them and people try to worship them as God… Acts 14

As this message closes look into God’s Word through the prophet Joel. Joel 2:13 NLV Tear your heart and not your clothes.      ” Return to the Lord your God, for He is full of loving-kindness and loving-pity. He is slow to anger, full of love, and ready to keep His punishment from you…”

A heart can only be torn if it is soft. A heart that has been broken is a heart that has become hard. Let’s tear our hearts for the lost around us. Let’s tear our hearts in a cry for God to help the hurting and lonely.
