One Step Adventure

Most often traps are entered by overlooking steps! Steps that are appreciated often expose snares!

When you walk, your steps will
not be hampered;
when you run,
you will not stumble. Prov. 4:12

A man’s steps are of the Lord;
How then can a man understand
his own way? Prov. 20:24

A few weeks ago I began hearing something that both inspired and troubled me. “Your journey qualifies you for the assignment.” I’ve made bad decisions and mistakes…

Prov. 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.

At this time let’s look at a few lives that help quantify the life and its assignment.

Jacob, Gen 25:26, starts out grasping the foot of his twin brother. He endures the early years following in the shadow of his brother and his father not regarding his leadership skills. He tricks his brother at a time of weakness to gain his brother’s birthright to lead. Jacobs’s mother devises a plan to deceive his father for the blessing to lead God’s people. He is tricked by his uncle when he substituted the less attractive daughter for the beautiful one. He spends years working out marriage and wealth in a series of wheeling and dealing. He lives out many years of fearing for his life and missing his family. He comes to an encounter with God…"Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome" (Genesis 32:28) His struggle with God leaves him a bit crippled walking now involves a limp. Even after his encounter with God he still doesn’t trust his brother. Gen. 33:4 Jacob finds his bother only wants to throw his arms around him and cry for years of misunderstanding and separation. Even then they go through a family disaster that involves unmentionable immorality. Yet God has a plan in all this confusion of life for Jacob’s 11th son Joseph to save all of Israel from starvation and bondage.

Now an even quicker life’s summary of Joseph. He’s Dad’s favorite son born of Dad’s favorite wife. That favor only causes jealousy in the family. He is blessed by God with a lifesaving dream that leads him to be sold into slavery. While Joseph is enduring slavery he is blessed with heaven sent wisdom which earns him the right to be sold as a slave to a high ranking Egyptian named Potiphar. While there he is falsely accused of misbehaving with Potiphar’s wife. Now Joseph is placed into prison where after many years he is given the interpretation of a couple prisoners’ dreams. One of the prisoners says thanks for the blessing I’ll never forget you. And he forgets him it seems. Yet, at the right time this prisoner remembers his fellow inmate and Pharaoh pardons him. Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s dream. Pharaoh then exalts Joseph to the most powerful place of leadership possible. At this time Joseph is able to save his family from starvation and ruin.

Wait these two men are actually “The Master’s Plan” promised to Abraham the father of nations. (Gen. 12 and Gen. 17)

These and many others did one simple thing, they kept taking one more step!

I believe God will always honor the desire to take another step.

Who does God want, 2 peter 3:9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Mark Batterson in his book “Chase The Lion”, page 3, In every dream journey there comes a moment when you have to quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death.  You have to go after every dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention.”

Join with me in a decree or prayer or challenge, what ever you want to call it…Lord help me to…“Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Help me Grab life by the mane. Help me Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine intervention. I will Keep asking questions. Keep making mistakes. Keep seeking God. Help me Stop pointing out problems and become part of the solution. Stop repeating the past and start creating the future. Help me Stop playing it safe and start taking risks. Help me Expand my horizons. Accumulate experiences. Consider the lilies. Enjoy the journey. Show me how to find every excuse I can to celebrate everything I can celebrate. I will “Live” like today is the first day and last day of my life. Help me to not let what’s wrong with me keep me from worshipping what’s right with God. I choose to burn sinful bridges. Blaze a new trail. I will stop Criticizing by creating. I WILL Worry less about what people think and more about what God thinks. I have decided not to be who I am not. I will Be myself. I will Laugh at myself. I will not hold out. I will not hold back. I will not run away.” AModified quote from Mark Batterson, The Lion Chaser’s Manifesto” and it’s based on his book In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day

Right now at this time in our world Jesus is THE SAVIOR!!!! Our lives amplify His Saving Work!!! Being Light Requires an undiminishing way of LIVING HIS saving of my life!!! Jesus use me…
