Not My Legs
October 14, 2018

“But you, Daniel, shut up the words,
and seal the book until the time of the end;
many shall run to and fro, and
knowledge shall increase.” Daniel 12:4

Today the message will be pretty simple. Dan. 12:4 is not my text but it is an intro into the Word for us today. The basic understanding of this well-known passage is that in the Last Days people will be increasing in earthly knowledge. However this knowledge and mobility won’t allow them to settle into a life of rest. God is very straight forward concerning life. Whoever has “The Son” has “Life”!!! 1 John 5:12

Not My Legs

Recently I pondered the condition of the world around us. During my pondering a thought came to me. “Evil needs legs to extend its destructive ways.”  Literally the thought was, “It takes the legs of men to for “Evil” to exist”. Evil needs the movement of people in order spread sin and its practices.

Prov. 1:15-16
…Keep your feet from their path.
For their feet run to sin and hurry to the ways of death.

Prov. 1:10 My son, if sinners try to lead you into sin, do not go with them. The Godly hear the admonition of wisdom and saying my legs aren’t taking me there!

I wonder how many evil practices of sin would cease if people just wouldn’t go. Oh wait, all of them.

Isa. 59 is an all-out portrait people struggling to live without God. People wander around in the darkness, they have eyes to see but are begging for light and stumbling through the night, growling like bears and moaning like doves in grief. This chapter reveals a picture of man and his ways when he chooses to try to live without God.

  • Hands shed innocent blood…
  • Mouths speak evil…
  • Legs are quick to run after evil…

At some point we all have to make up our minds to serve God with all our heart.

Ps. 23:3 …He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness…For His name’s sake.

Prov. 2:20 …follow the steps of the good…and stay on the paths of the righteous…

God saving a soul is all about “Life to the Full”. MSG Romans 12:1-2…So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Next time you’re asked to use your “Legs” to transport you to a place of rebellion – sin – insecurity – violence – hate – selfishness or any other path that is not found in Righteousness say, “Not My Legs”.

King David knew what was best for his legs, Ps. 122 …I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Our feet are standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built as a city where people come together. That is where the different families go, the families of the Lord. There they give thanks to the name of the Lord…

The Apostles of The Book of Acts knew what their legs we capable of. They stood in the hard places. They journeyed through the land telling every one of the Lord’s love and saving Grace.

In this day of extreme mobility let’s stand and move freely with The Gospel Message.

Acts 17:28 NLV …It is in Him that we live and move and keep on living…‘We are God’s children.’
